As one of the original “Classrooms for the Future” teachers in PA, I’ve witnessed the gradual integration of technology in classrooms and now find the current AI revolution both exciting and challenging. There’s a lot of discussion about how AI is reshaping education and what it means for students, teachers, and the future of learning.

One recent video, “4 Scenarios for AI’s Future” by Ethan Mollick, lays out the three realities of AI in education today. Here’s a quick summary of Mollick’s points:

  1. It’s Undetectable. AI now seamlessly integrates into students’ work, making it almost undetectable. Tools like AI-driven writing assistants and problem solvers mimic human thought processes and produces text that closely resembles student work. This subtle integration challenges teachers to discern between student effort and AI assistance, urging everyone to re-evaluate of how we assess learning and originality.

  2. It’s Ubiquitous: AI is now widespread across various industries and disciplines, including education. Its applications range from personalized learning platforms to automated grading systems. As AI continues to evolve, its integration into our daily activities will only grow.
